How can international frameworks be established to regulate nation-sponsored cyber attacks?
Head Chair
Priyanshi Bora
Grade 8
Honorable directors, fellow delegates, and most esteemed guests,
I am Priyanshi Bora, an 8th-grade United Nations International School student. I will be the Secretary General in the UNIS MS MUN April conference, as well as the head chair for the Security Council committee. As this is my fourth time as chair, I hope that I can use my past experiences to have a wonderful committee debate but also hope to continue to grow as a chair.
This year's theme for our MUN conference is “The question of maintaining international peace and security between nations.” This is an extremely important topic as advancements in technology and the economy have changed how countries collaborate. With recent breakthroughs in artificial intelligence, this discussion is more relevant than ever.
This year's topic in the Security Council committee will be focusing on “How can international frameworks be established to regulate nation-sponsored cyber attacks?” This is also a crucial topic, as it addresses the fundamental need for stability and cooperation in our interconnected world. Effective dialogue and collaboration among nations are crucial to preventing conflict and creating a better and more peaceful global environment.
As a former delegate, I fully understand the challenges and worries a delegate may experience, but I guide every delegate to take a risk and speak at least once throughout the conference, as it will become an exciting and engaging debate. I am more than confident that this MUN conference will be an amazing event for everyone of us. I am excited to collaborate with all of you at the UNISMUN April Conference.
Deputy Chair
Xavier Lombardi
Grade 7
Honorable directors, fellow delegates, and most esteemed guests,
I am Xavier Lombardi, a 7th grader at United Nations International School. This is my second conference, and I am honored to serve as deputy chair for the Security Council. Even though this is my first time as a chair, I look forward to experiencing a conference from the perspective of a chair rather than a delegate. I am taking part in the MUN conference because I think it is important for students of international schools to understand how the UN and how countries work.
Our theme for this MUN conference is “How can we strengthen peaceful cooperation in the context of global innovation?” This is an important question as countries are reaching new stages in development and creating new technologies such as AI which can pave the way for the future. This question is also very connected to the topic for the security council as the topic is about nation sponsored cyber attacks, which can be prevented but also be worsened due to global innovations this is also a topic that requires the effort of several countries together.
My goal for this upcoming conference is to experience MUN from a new role and learn more about the parts of MUN that are new to me. I also would like to help delegates to participate actively in debates.
Procedural Chair
Karin Kurashima
Grade 7
Honorable directors, fellow delegates, and most esteemed guests,
My name is Karin Kurashima, in 7th grade at the United Nations international school. I will be procedural chair for this year’s security council. This conference is my first time as chair, and I am honored to be chair taking part in the April 2025 conference, and I am committed to putting in effort into my first experience as chair.
As MUN plays a large role in my school life, making my understanding of global issues and enhancing my skills in solving issues and debate, I am eager to expand my involvement in UNISMUN.
The theme for the April conference will be: “How can we strengthen peaceful cooperation in the context of global innovation?” The question of maintaining international peace and cooperation has been a topic crucial to discuss in many conferences. Many countries are starting to form more technologies such as the developing artificial intelligence, also known as AI. For the security council, this question fully aligns with the topic, which is “How can international frameworks be established to regulate nation-sponsored cyber attacks?” This topic question is about the establishment of rules that should be set to balance the amount of nation-sponsored cyber attacks that are occuring more often due to global innovation.
The security council committee debates about topics and maintaining international peace and security between nations. Having experienced a security council conference as a delegate previously, I fully understand the difficulties and efforts that are required to have a long, fruitful debate- Which I hope will be achieved throughout the conference this April.
