UNISMUN BEIMUN Delegation 2026
Meet our Delegation Ambassadors for the BEIMUN Conference!

Chair
Van Hien Nguyen
Grade 10
Greetings honourable delegates!
My name is Van Hien Nguyen and I’m currently a sophomore at the United Nations International School of Hanoi. MUN is my favourite extracurriculars as I get to connect with other passionate delegates and gain a deeper understanding of global affairs through debateI. It's an honour for me to attend The BEIMUN XXXIII Conference held in Beijing this January as a chair. This upcoming conference will mark my 5th conference experience but my first conference as a chair, and I am absolutely delighted and honored to serve as a chair.
This conference’s theme, "Virtue Attracts Resonance" , resonates deeply with the mission of General Assembly 2 (GA2) and to me personally. GA2 addresses urgent global issues surrounding global economic and financial issues with a strong focus on sustainable development and reducing global inequalities. This requires dedicated cooperations between nations, and the commitment, moral integrity and trust within Member States. Hence, this theme encourages all delegates to work collectively with respect and trust to create efficient, constructive resolutions that are acknowledged by all. Personally, I’m deeply resonated with this theme as I always desire to help create a safe environment for all our delegates to raise their voices, to ensure that everyone’s voice and contribution is heard and valued, where integrity, collective efforts and cooperation are highly valued.
In this upcoming conference, GA2 will debate about two critical topics: “Facilitating economic recovery in LEDCs following natural disasters” and “Tackling economic challenges stemming from a rapidly aging workforce.”. I’ll be focusing on the first topic, which will emphasize on the urgent needs for planning and framework to prepare and support LEDCs in the economic recovery following the loss from natural disasters. In recent years, natural disasters have been increasing in both frequency and strength, causing huge human and economic losses to the world. LEDCs, which are already developing countries that struggle with their own existing issues, face even worse implications from dealing with these catastrophes. Unresolved crises in these countries can lead to increased forced migration, disruptions to global supply chains, and instability that threatens regional security. Therefore, addressing this issue is not merely an act of aid, but a crucial investment in global economic stability and humanitarian responsibility. Our committee's work in establishing effective frameworks is essential to ensuring that these local crises do not escalate into larger international challenges.
As you prepare, I highly encourage all delegates to approach these discussions with respect, empathy, open-mindedness and a willingness to collaborate across differences to together create constructive resolutions that can meet all nations’ agreement. Together, working under the value of the BEIMUN XXXIII conference’s theme: Virtue Attracts Resonance, we can create innovative and effective solutions that can help foster trust, integrity and shared responsibilities.
I’m very much looking forward to working with my honorable delegates and fellow chairs to all create a fruitful debate in Beijing this January. Hope to see everyone’s diplomacy in action and an engaging, productive conference day!

Delegate of the People’s Republic of China
Prakhar Sharma
Grade 11
Honorable chairs, distinguished delegates, and our most esteemed guests,
My name is Tung Mai, and I am a Junior at UNIS Hanoi, and I will be the delegate for the People’s Republic of China in the General Assembly 1. This conference will be my 6th MUN conference, with one time serving as a head chair, and 4 other times participating as a delegate. I have a passion for economics, piano, and 3D modelling, and in the future I aspire to be an economist. Coming from a background of diplomacy, and a country whose history has been riddled with the fight for resources, I am well interested in the topics of this committee, which deal with the utilization and exploitation of of Antarctica and space. Because of this, I am very excited to be able to participate as a delegate for this committee in the upcoming BEIMUN 2026 conference!
Firstly, addressing this conference’s theme of “Virtue Attracts Resonance”/”Virtue Seeks Resonance”, I believe that this theme very much relates to not only my background but also my MUN experiences. In a world where self-interest often gets in the way of basic morality and ethics, and where delegates often debate for the sake of “winning”, I believe this conference theme is a perfect reminder to not only us delegates, but to everyone in the world to seek virtue (high morality) and cooperate (resonate) with each other for the best interest of everybody.
As for the work of my committee, the General Assembly 1, which deals with promoting peace and disarmament, I believe that the work of this committee is extremely important, as even though sometimes it might not be able to enforce peace and disarmament, what the General Assembly 1 does best is to act as a peaceful forum where countries can come together and discuss and even just attempt to resolve issues. Without the General Assembly 1, it would be impossible to discuss issues without violence, and furthermore, some issues wouldn’t even be brought up in the first place.
Dealing with each topic I will be discussing in the General Assembly 1, I believe that although these topics may not be too relevant now, in the not-so-distant future, they will be of utmost importance and might even be a place of conflict if not discussed properly. As for the issue of the ownership and usage of Antarctica, in recent years, it has been determined to hold huge reserves of natural resources, especially oil. Coming from a country where such resources are often contested and where the effects of global warming can be directly observed, I believe that it is important that this issue is resolved and discussed properly, as the misuse of Antarctica might threaten the very existence of life on our planet. Now, as for the militarization of space, coming from a region where historically, countries tried to use every geographical feature to their advantage, for better or for worse, I believe that this issue should also be dealt with utmost delicacy, as the very space above us can soon be the new frontline, used to deploy weapons of mass destruction where countries that are technologically less developed have no room to fight back.
With that being said, although these topics may seem bleak, I believe that they have a huge potential for interesting, fulfilling debates, and I encourage every delegate, not just those in my committee, to come to this conference as prepared as possible and remember to debate with “Virtue” and seek “Resonance”.
HRC
Delegate of the People’s Republic of China
Maite Olivia Senff
Grade 10
Dear honorable delegates, chairs and guests,
My name is Maite Olivia Senff. I am a sophomore at UNIS Hanoi, and will be attending the upcoming BEIMUN conference as delegate of the People’s Republic of China within the Human Rights Council. I am excited to say this will mark my 5th conference, and my 2nd as delegate. Throughout my time in MUN I’ve grown a strong passion for understanding international relations, and especially in seeing how they translate into real-world contexts, shaping my environment economically, politically and socially. Each of us scroll through the news on our phones, we hear the heated conversations at the dinner table and we speak in shock about the latest updates we see on our algorithm, but there always seems to be a blatant rift between our reality and the events presented online. To me, MUN closes this gap, offering us hands-on experience in not only understanding, but explaining these real-world issues in a way that is true to your stance, and convincing to others. It allows you to truly feel the depth of these events, and continues to surprise me every time with the impact politics can have against even the smallest of communities.
The BEIMUN XXXIII Conference theme: 德不孤比幽灵, or –Virtue Attracts Resonance strikes me as not just a key aspect of international diplomacy, but more so, a moral standpoint each of us could implement into our personal lives. Within a political context, this theme calls upon world leaders to find compromise before conflict – it highlights how those acting with justice (in this case, in line with the UN Charter and international law) will never remain alone. Within a social context, it suggests kindness to others is always reciprocated – by modelling what it means to be diplomatic and just, we inspire others to do the same, and we attract partners, friends or allies.
This conference theme aligns very well with the goal of the Human Rights Council The HRC brings a human face to the numbers, data and words which form UN Resolutions. It is this committee’s intent to ensure governments' decisions impact their citizens positively while also driving equal rights for all members of our global community. Our committee stresses the importance of empathy towards the living beings whose lives are molded through every resolution passed, and this can only be done effectively through collaboration and partnership. Virtue attracts resonance, and consideration attracts allyship. It is therefore the HRC’s fundamental duty to balance the needs of every individual unit for a greater benefit to our people.
Looking at this conference’s HRC’s committee topics, topic #1: Addressing forced marriage and other gender-based oppression on women from vulnerable backgrounds, I think this topic really brings to light a clash between historical cultural standards and modern day emancipation of women in particular. It is a complex issue which will factor in not just social aspects, but also economic implications as forced marriage is often fueled by financial need and a lack of women in the workforce. As for topic #2: Protecting the rights and safety of asylum seekers in detention areas, this topic stands out from the first, in that it stresses a need to also factor in state sovereignty. It requires that the international community find a balance between protecting marginalized or fragile groups through humane treatment, while also respecting the independent rights of states. This is once again complex, but calls us to consider the conference theme to make humane decisions and respect the equal rights of all people.
With that being said, I’m extremely excited for this conference. Having lived in China for nearly 10 years, this country strikes very close to home for me. The opportunity not only to travel back, but to attend an MUN conference as the delegate of the PRC will be a super interesting experience which I’m sure will become very memorable.
Thank you,
Maite Olivia Senff

Delegate of the People’s Republic of China
Jayson Alexander Fuller II
Grade 9
Greetings Fellow Delegates,
My name is Jayson Fuller, and I am currently a freshman at the United Nations International School of Hanoi, and an Aspiring diplomat with an interest in international law. I found myself at my first MUN conference in April of 2024, not even a full year ago, but in that time, I found MUN to be an intriguing experience and a great bridge between my passions and my ambitions. With that, I am honored to be a member of the BEIMUN XXXIII conference.
The theme of this conference, 'Virtue Attracts Resonance,' is a meaningful statement with significant historical implications. The use of a philosopher's beliefs to guide an MUN conference fosters a strong connection to humanity among all participants. The theme also has a strong connection to the HSC committee, which focuses on the reliving and recall of historical events, which, when looking from a modern lens, were events discussed in the rooms where virtue was shown, and that led to resonance throughout the world, and echoes heroism shown by individuals, communities, and societies in the face of turmoil.
During this conference, the HSC committee will discuss two topics: first, addressing reconstruction and stability in the aftermath of the Iraq War. This topic holds significant historical importance, particularly in relation to the conference theme. The second theme, International Response to Syrian Revolution, on the surface did not invoke any sort of connection to me, but after further research and inquiry, I found this topic to be the one that requires the most character and the strongest displays of leadership, communication, and integrity. For this reason, I will be focusing more heavily on the development of my composure and speaking skills, as well as my pre-conference preparations, to ensure that I am a strong delegate with good composure and a good leader with notable contributions.
I look forward to this conference and believe that it will be an incredible experience for me and my fellow delegates, and I am excited to debate on such powerful and historically meaningful topics. Thank you.

GA2
Delegate of the People’s Republic of China
Jisoo Kang
Grade 11
Dear honorable delegates, chairs, and guests,
My name is Jisoo Kang, and I am a junior at UNIS Hanoi. I will be attending the BEIMUN XXXIII Conference as the delegate of the People’s Republic of China in GA2. This will be my sixth MUN conference, and I am also part of my school’s MUN leadership team, where I help support and mentor other delegates.
Through MUN, I’ve grown especially interested in economics and finance, and in how economic decisions made at the international level directly affect people’s lives. While these issues are often reduced to statistics and growth rates, MUN has helped me understand the real impact behind the numbers and the importance of cooperation in solving economic challenges.
The conference theme, 德不孤必有邻, “Virtue Attracts Resonance,” is personally meaningful to me. Having lived in China for nine years and attended a Chinese school for five, I’ve seen how this idea reflects the value of building trust through responsible action. In an economic context, it highlights how fair and thoughtful policies encourage collaboration and long-term stability.
This theme strongly connects to GA2’s topics, including economic recovery in LEDCs following natural disasters, where sustainable financial support is essential, and the challenges of a rapidly aging workforce, which require careful economic planning to maintain growth and stability.
I am very excited to take part in this conference and represent the People’s Republic of China in GA2. I look forward to productive debate and a meaningful BEIMUN experience.
Thank you,
Jisoo Kang
GA2
Delegate of the Republic of Finland
Diep Nguyen Luong
Grade 10
Dear Fellow Delegates,
My name is Diep Nguyen Luong, and I’m currently a freshman at the United Nations International School of Hanoi. I’ll be attending the upcoming BEIMUN conference as the delegation of the Republic of Finland for GA2. I am interested in how economic policies, social systems, and demographic changes affect a country’s stability and future. As this is only my second MUN conference, I recognize that I still have much to learn, and I see this conference as an opportunity to grow through discussion, research, and cooperation with fellow delegates. These values closely reflect the theme of this conference, “Virtue Attracts Resonance.”
The theme, “Virtue Attracts Resonance,” resonates with me as it highlights the importance of integrity, responsibility, and cooperation in international relations. When countries approach global challenges with sincerity and a willingness to cooperate, they build trust and create meaningful, lasting progress. This principle is especially relevant in committees such as GA2, where cooperation is essential to addressing shared economic challenges.
The Second Committee of the General Assembly plays a vital role in addressing global economic and development issues, including recovery, financing, and sustainability. Its work supports inclusive growth and long-term stability, particularly for developing countries, making GA2 essential in reducing inequality and strengthening global cooperation.
Regarding the topic “Facilitating economic recovery in LEDCs following natural disasters,” Finland believes that recovery should focus on long-term solutions rather than short-term aid alone. Natural disasters often severely damage infrastructure, jobs, and essential systems in LEDCs, making sustainable rebuilding and disaster preparedness crucial not only for affected countries but also for global economic stability. On the topic “Tackling economic challenges stemming from a rapidly aging workforce,” Finland brings relevant experience, as demographic change has impacted its labor market, productivity, and public services. This challenge is increasingly global and requires adaptive labor policies, lifelong learning, and inclusive workforce participation to ensure long-term economic and social stability.
In closing, I look forward to learning from my fellow delegates and working together in GA2 with openness and respect. I encourage everyone to engage actively, listen carefully, and remember that cooperation and integrity are key to creating meaningful solutions. Thank you.

Delegate of the People's Republic of China
Duc An Nguyen
Grade 11
Good Morning/Afternoon/Evening honorable chairs and esteemed delegates,
My name is Duc An Nguyen, but my preffered name is Tom. I am currently a Junior at the United Nations International School of Hanoi. BEIMUN 2026 will be my second ever conference, and in such a short timeframe, MUN has become an incredibly influential activity for myself. This will also be my second time serving as a delegate, and my first time going overseas for a conference! I plan to study US Law in the distant future and political science has always been a deep interest of mine. I box as a hobby, and have been boxing for 4 years.
I find this year’s conference theme to be incredibly fascinating, “Virtue Attracts Resonance”. The statement not only acts as an overarching guiding principle of the conference, but as a statement true to life. I interpret the word “Virtue” as having admirable qualities, taking just action and living with kindness; “Resonance” to me means deep invocation of emotions, and more specifically harmony. The statement as a whole, to myself, means harboring virtuous qualities will invoke harmony in individuals’ and societies’ existence. With the quote being from the Chinese Philosopher Confucius, it also carries historical significance. Confucius’ works, ideologies and philosophies have deeply shaped the development of Asian Nation-States throughout history. He embodied values of family, virtuous leadership, harmony, education; Values that are directly linked to my own Vietnamese culture and my own identity. This statement serves as a strong foundation for the conference, and for individuals’ philosophies (Including my own).
The committee GA3 focuses on Humanitarian, Social, and Cultural global issues. These are especially passions of mine as a Global Politics student and as a Global Citizen. The topic “Mitigating the risks of AI-generated information” is incredibly significant within this digitized world. More and more AI-generated information, content, and entertainment are present within the online sphere. It has implications of misinformation, false crime, and many more. The 2nd topic “Safeguarding cultural sites from destruction and looting during times of conflict” carries implications of cultural heritage, cultural cleansing, and loss of culture and tradition. With culture being such an integral part of Asian life, it is directly related to my life.
ECOSOC
Delegate of the People’s Republic of China
Timothy Bonang
Grade 11
Honorable chairs, distinguished delegates, and most esteemed guests,
I am Timothy Bonang and currently a junior in the United Nations International School of Hanoi. Over the past years, Model United Nations has been a meaningful part throughout high school, allowing me to explore and improve on my problem solving, collaboration, and communication skills. BEIMUN 2026 will be the 3rd conference I have ever participated in as a delegate. I am truly honored to be the Delegate of the People's Republic of China in ECOSOC this year.
The theme “Virtue Attracts Resonance” strongly connects to my own values as well as to ECOSOC. The theme shows how meaningful diplomacy requires more than just policy knowledge or debating skills, it also requires integrity, empathy, and openmindedness. When delegates embody these values throughout debates, solutions become not only possible but more impactful. I hope this theme inspires all delegates to approach debate with respect, and a shared commitment to problem solving.
The committee ECOSOC plays an extremely crucial role in shaping global economic and social development, addressing issues such as poverty and technological advancement. The work being done influences the well‑being of millions, making our discussions at BEIMUN both meaningful and globally relevant.
I feel particularly connected to the topic “Advancing financial inclusion through the adoption of global digital currencies” as the issue highlights innovation, equity, and long‑term development. Digital currencies have the potential to grant financial services for struggling populations, reduce transaction costs and improve convenience for everyone overall. This issue carries implications for reducing inequality and ensuring that everyone can participate in the quickly evolving digital economy.
As we prepare for BEIMUN I encourage all delegates to approach this debate with curiosity, respect and an open mind. I look forward to meeting with everyone during the conference.
ECOSOC
Delegate of the Republic of Finland
Wen-De (Ethan) Hsiao
Grade 11
Greetings Honorable Chairs & Delegates and Distinguished Guests,
My name is Wen-De (Ethan) Hsiao. I am a junior at the United Nations International School of Hanoi, and I will be representing Finland in the United Nations Economic and Social Council. It is my honor to be attending the BEIMUN XXXIII 2026 conference, as this conference will not only be marked as my 7th Conference in attending Model United Nations Programs, but my first participation in an external conference as a delegate. I hope that throughout this experience, I will be able to learn and gain skills, enhancing my public speaking, communication, and critical thinking.
The theme of this conference, “Virtue Attracts Resonance”, or “德不孤比幽灵”, not only stood out to me in a sense of personal connection, but to an extent, in my representation of the committee and country as well. Virtue Attracts Resonance, a resemblance in actions creates peace, whereas if countries or just human beings in general act on a rightful stance, others would most likely favor and convey respect, trust, and support. When this theme is taken into consideration during debating procedures, honest and responsible actions would contribute to creating a stronger cooperation and influence between countries.
The United Nations Economic and Social Council, a main UN body committee in the stance of approaching international cooperation towards improving humanitarian rights, livelihood through the address of different issues faced, such as poverty, education, health, and economic development. Within the committee, delegates may approach the two issues in regard for cooperations, finding solutions to resolve these social and economic issues.
Out of the two topics in ECOSOC, I deeply resonate with topic 2, “Improving technological literacy in LEDCs. Having to live in a developing country and visiting many other developing countries, I was able to determine the literacy rate of technology, seeing the differences in the economic and technological development of each. Clear advancements in technology, such as infrastructure, could be observed, especially in developing countries, whereas their literacy in technology is rather consistent, while others, such as lower economically developed countries, depicted lower advancement, showing the significance of literacy in technology is crucial.
As the conference approaches, I hope the best for all delegates in preparation for this conference and to open their perspectives on the issues and topics of this committee, while keeping consistency in consideration of the theme.
Thank you,
Wen-De (Ethan) Hsiao
Advocate
Julian Danailov-Benguernane
Grade 9
Honourable Presidents, distinguished Judges, and fellow Advocates,
My name is Julian Danailov-Benguernane, and I am a Grade 9 student at the United Nations International School of Hanoi. I am honoured to participate in BEIMUN 2026 as an Advocate in the International Court of Justice. My interests lie in international law and global governance, particularly in how legal institutions restrain power and create accountability between states. Through several years of Model United Nations experience, including leadership roles, I have developed a strong appreciation for disciplined argumentation, evidentiary precision, and the ethical responsibility that advocacy before a court demands.
The theme of this year’s conference, “Virtue Attracts Resonance,” is especially relevant to the ICJ. Unlike other political bodies, this Court derives its authority not from enforcement mechanisms, but from legal integrity and the willingness of all states to submit to judgment in good faith. When advocates argue with respect for facts, precedent, and international obligations, legal virtue gains resonance beyond the ICJ courtroom, upholding trust in international law itself.
The International Court of Justice plays a central role in the peaceful settlement of disputes and the clarification of international legal norms. Its jurisprudence creates and upholds fundamental principles such as state sovereignty, non-intervention, treaty interpretation, and human rights obligations, all principles that remain essential to international stability.
This year’s cases show both the historical foundations and contemporary sides of the Court. The first case: Military and Paramilitary Activities in and against Nicaragua (Nicaragua v. United States of America) is an important case specifically on the prohibition of the use of force and indirect intervention, and to demonstrate that international law applies equally to all states, regardless of power. Meanwhile, Ukraine v. Russian Federation (2024) reflect on the ICJ’s evolving role in addressing modern conflict through treaty law, particularly regarding the financing of terrorism and racial discrimination. This case can explain how legal accountability remains possible even during ongoing geopolitical tension.
As we prepare for BEIMUN, I encourage my fellow advocates to approach proceedings with rigor, professionalism, and respect for opposing arguments. By grounding our advocacy in law rather than rhetoric, we allow virtue to attract resonance and ensure that the ICJ remains a credible forum for justice.
Judge
Ashley Lim
Grade 9
Greetings, honorable chairs and distinguished delegates,
My name is Ashley Lim. I am in grade 9 and attend UNIS Hanoi. This conference, I will be participating as one of the 9 Judges of the ICC. It is an honour to be part of the BEIMUN XXXIII Conference, and I am very grateful for this opportunity. This conference marks my 5th conference, and is my first conferencing in which I’m participating in an external position. I am very excited to meet everyone soon!
The theme of this conference, “Virtue attracts resonance”, is a phrase that I’ve kept close to me my entire life. In simple terms, “Virtue attracts resonance” means that you can’t attract what you want, but you can attract what you are. This theme, when taken into consideration in the context of the ICC, should be upheld. This theme has been the reasoning behind multiple important decisions I’ve made before, and will continue to be present within the conference.
As a judge, my role prevents me from researching thoroughly about the topics, it should be noted that the theme should always be considered when making arguments. Keeping the theme in mind will help advocates present the most relevant and helpful evidence.
I hope everyone is ready to debate as the conference approaches, and I hope that everyone comes with an open mind, and is willing to hear and learn more and more.
Sincerely,
Ashley Lim
