The membership of Kosovo
Head Chair
Ian Dajer
Grade 8
Most esteemed directors, chairs, delegates, and guests,
My name is Ian Dajer, and I will be the Head Chair of the UNMC committee.
I have been a part of MUN since November 2024, and this is my 4th conference with MUN and my 2nd as a chair. I have also been an admin for an HS conference. I am honored to have this opportunity for my second conference in grade 8. I hope I will be able to continue my MUN journey through High School.
This year’s theme is: “To what extent can international agreements effectively protect us against global threats?” As many countries are becoming more independent and powerful, it is incredibly important that we still find ways to create agreements and work together to protect our world from global threats. In order to work together to solve global issues, it is crucial to maintain cooperation between countries and to create international agreements.
The committee I will be chairing is the UNMC. Although it isn’t a real committee in the United Nations, it is still an incredibly important part of UNISMUN. It is responsible for managing new memberships of emerging states willing to join the UN. This committee is crucial to maintaining the balance of geopolitics, since every resolution will shape our future. This year, we will be debating the membership of Kosovo, a country created as a result of an intervention from NATO, and Serbia still recognises it as a part of its own country. I think that this topic will be a great introduction for delegates in this committee for the first time, and still provide a manageable challenge for experienced delegates returning to UNISMUN. I am looking forward to overseeing the debates in UNMC, as I find this topic extremely intriguing, and I am excited to hear delegates debate about this topic.
I am eager to take on the role of Head Chair in my second conference of the 25-26 school year, improve my debating skills, make new friends, and hope for many fruitful and insightful debates to come.
Deputy Chair
Thanh Vinh Vu
Grade 7
Honorable directors, chairs, delegates, and esteemed guests,
My name is Thanh Vinh Vu, a 7th-grade student at the United Nations International School of Hanoi. This is my 4th ever MUN conference, but my first conference as a UNIS MUN chair.
I will be honored to be the deputy chair of the UNMC committee. I hope that UNMC and its delegates can have a fruitful debate.
The theme for this year’s conference is "To what extent can international agreements effectively protect us against global threats?" This topic is crucial because global threats like cyberattacks and geopolitical conflicts can’t be solved by a single nation and require international cooperation; thus, international agreements and their protection against global threats need to be debated
UNMC will debate Kosovo's membership. This is important so we can manage tensions in Northern Kosovo and prevent violence. Even though UNMC is not an official part of the United Nations, it’s still a significant part of UNISMUN. The committee's job is to decide whether new countries that want to join the UN can become members. This is a very important role because these decisions can affect the way countries interact and how global politics work in the future.
I’m excited to develop my MUN skills as a chair, as this is my first time as chair, and I hope to learn things like what to say and when during debate, how I can help delegates, and more, so I can make my committee the best possible.
I wish for our UNMC delegates to be passionate, ready to debate, and have a wonderful experience at MUN.
Procedural Chair
Hyomin Chun
Grade 7
Honorable directors, fellow delegates, and most esteemed guests,
I am Hyomin Chun, a 7th grade student from United Nations International school Hanoi. I am really grateful to be the procedural chair for the upcoming UNISMUN 2026 April conference. This is my second conference I am attending as a chair, and I am truly honored to direct the UNMC as the procedural chair. As being the chair for the second time, I hope to keep improving my skills of communication through getting more experiences. I will learn from my head chair and my deputy chair and keep improving to be a great procedural chair during the conference. Also, I am fully committed to put in my best efforts to not only make a fun and engaging conference for everyone but a safe environment where everyone feels safe and comfortable to speak up.
This year’s topic for the UNMC committee is about the membership of Kosovo. Even though UNMC is not a real committee, it is an important part of the UN that has to be recognized. In this committee, delegates will be debating about the membership of KOSOVO. This topic will not only encourage all delegates to view the topic from different and diverse perspectives but also encourages all participants to cooperate amongst each other and choose a solution through a respectful discussion.
Once again, this is my second year as a chair, I will try my best to create an engaging conference where everyone participates and make our committee a safe place for everyone to feel comfortable speaking up. As I was a delegate for the past 2 conferences, and a chair for the past one conference I think I can connect with people who are new to MUN and I can understand their struggle of speaking up for the first time. But I hope that the UNISMUN April 2026 conference can be a good experience for all including admin, HODs, directors, and Secretary Generals. As a chair, I hope to have such a great conference debating about different global problems. I hope this UNISMUN November conference will be a good memory for everyone.
Thank you honorable directors, fellow chairs, and delegates.
