Welcome honourable chairs, distinguished delegates, and esteemed guests,
My name is Jay Choi, currently a junior at UNIS Hanoi. This conference marks my 8th MUN experience, and by serving as the Head Chair of the Conference of Parties (COP), it will be my fourth time chairing. I am truly excited to guide meaningful discussions and ensure that every delegate has a productive and engaging experience throughout the committee.
The theme of the UNISMUN November is “To what extent can multilateralism remain effective in an increasingly divided world?.” COP provides a crucial platform to examine how international cooperation must evolve in response to global environmental pressures. Thus, I encourage all delegates to question existing frameworks and propose solutions that promote adaptability and responsibility. As the highest decision making body of major international environmental agreements, COP brings together all member states to review progress and negotiate new commitments. It plays a crucial role in ensuring accountability and advancing global action on a more sustainable future.
For this UNISMUN conference, our committee will examine 2 key topics. First is ‘the question of addressing viral outbreaks globally,’ emphasising the link between human health and resolution for viruses. Fast spread of viruses and the consequences of them are essential to discuss, ensuring safeguarding vulnerable populations worldwide. Our second topic, ‘the question of accelerating the shift to renewable energy’ highlights the importance of renewable energy and the global environment. The use of renewable energy is a crucial solution directly linked to global warming and environmental protection, constantly threatened by use of disposable products, mass production, and industrial waste.
As I finish this introduction, I encourage all delegates to approach debates with openness, cooperation, and a willingness to think beyond traditional boundaries. I am confident that together we can create a constructive and inspiring committee experience. Thank you and see you in the committee!

Deputy Chair
Tue Minh Vu
Grade 9
Greetings to all honourable chairs, distinguished delegates and esteemed guests,
I am Vu Tue Minh and I am currently in 9th Grade at the British International School Hanoi. It is my absolute pleasure to serve as your Deputy Chair at this conference. This conference will mark my 7th time participating in a Model United Nations and the second time that I will be chairing at one. I am very excited to help guide the delegates through the topics of the committee in this conference and encourage many valuable debates and engaging discussions.
This Conference’s main question is “To what extent can multilateralism remain effective in an increasingly divided world?”. The Conference of the Parties aims to answer this question by observing how the cooperation between different countries must adapt and develop to respond to the many global challenges. To help further the discussions on this question, I encourage all delegates to find existing frameworks and try to improve the current solutions that their countries have, building on current policies to further develop better adapted answers.
The first topic that our committee will be discussing is “The question of addressing viral outbreaks globally”. In this topic, we will be acknowledging the importance of international resources for healthcare, medical aid and the interchanging of information on diseases and illnesses.
Our second topic will be “The question of accelerating the shift into renewable energy”. We will be discussing the cooperation between nations to further the use of renewable energy and how it would benefit the present and future generations.
To conclude this introduction, I hope to see all delegates at the conference and hear their points of view. I am sure that we will have a very enjoyable conference filled with many valuable discussions and interesting debates. I wish all delegates a wonderful time at UNISMUN and I am looking forward to meeting you all this November.

Procedural Chair
Leo Lee
Grade 11
Greetings, honorable directors, fellow chairs, distinguished delegates, and most esteemed guests,
My name is Leo, and I am a junior at the United Nations International School of Hanoi. It is my honor to serve as your Procedural Chair for the Conference of the Parties (COP) at the upcoming November 2026 conference. This will be my 6th conference for UNISMUN while also being my first experience as a chair. I am excited to take on this responsibility and look forward to meeting everyone at the conference.
This conference's theme, “To what extent can multilateralism remain effective in an increasingly divided world?”, encourages us to question how countries can overcome political disagreements and conflicts to address shared challenges. I believe that international cooperation remains essential, although it is difficult because challenges cannot be solved by individual nations alone.
COP is one of the most crucial decision-making bodies for the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change in the real world. Countries negotiate climate action and review their progress toward shared goals, and this demonstrates both the potential of multilateralism and the challenges of achieving agreements amongst nations with different interests and priorities.
The first topic will be “The question of addressing viral outbreaks globally”, which highlights the importance of international cooperation in sharing information, improving healthcare, and ensuring access to medical resources.
The second topic is “The question of accelerating the shift to renewable energy”, exploring how countries can work together to promote sustainable energy while at the same time addressing economic inequalities and different national interests.
At this conference, I will be attempting to give all the support to delegates in need, providing guidance, and ensuring that all delegates have a strong understanding of the conference theme and the committee topics. I wish all delegates the best of luck, and I am looking forward to a successful conference.
Thank you,
Leo Lee.
